Rafael García Barcena ( Spanish: Rafael García Bárcena ; June 7, 1908, Guines, Cuba - June 13, 1964) is a Cuban philosopher, poet, writer, and revolutionary.

An active participant in the revolutionary-democratic movement and the Cuban revolution , the opponent of the dictatorships Gerardo Machado and Fulgencio Batista . Professor of Philosophy at the University of Havana, who was influenced by the philosophical currents of vitalism and existentialism , editor of the journal Revista Cubana de Filosofía (Revista Cubana de Philosophy).
Founder of the National Revolutionary Movement ( Movimiento Nacional Revolucionaria ), consisting mainly of representatives of the intelligentsia and the middle strata. Like Fidel Castro with the Movement on July 26 , this movement planned to seize the barracks (at the Columbia camp in March 1953), but the police were warned about these plans, and the participants were arrested and tortured. A total of 14 people were sentenced to prison for attempting an assault [1] [2] [3] .
