History
The territory of Aztec was inhabited by Native American tribes for more than 1000 years. The Aztec ruins , included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, are preserved on the territory of the city. They were built in the XII century. In the summer of 1776, the ruins were found by the father of Francisco Atanosio Dominguez and the father of Francisco Velas de Escalante. The first English-speaking settlers appeared on the territory of the settlement in 1879. The village was founded in 1887, as a place for trade. It was called the Aztec because of the nearby ruins, the settlers assumed that they belonged to the Aztecs [1] . By 1900, a pharmacy, a hairdresser, mills, a salon, shops, lawyers and medical services were opened, and agriculture was well developed. A telephone was made in 1903, and by 1905 a railway was built. In 1921, a well was drilled near the city and gas and oil were found.
