Sigurd Sverresson Lavard was first mentioned during the Battle of Nidaros in November 1181, when the city was captured by rival Sverre, King Magnus Erlingsson . According to Saxon Grammar , Sigurd was born while Sverre was still living in the Faroe Islands and was given the name Ounos in honor of the man who was then considered the father of Sverre. Later, when Sverre declared himself the son of King Sigurd Munn , Sverre accordingly changed the name of his son. Sverre became king of Norway, leading a rebellion against the previous king Magnus [1] .

King Magnus was defeated and killed in 1184, but in 1196 his old followers united and formed a party of baglers . The first meeting between Sverre and the brokers took place along the coast of Ranrique. King Sverre instructed Sigurd Lavard to guard the ballista he had built. However, at night, the brokers suddenly attacked. Sigurd and his people were taken by surprise and put to flight, and they destroyed the ballista. After this failure, Sigurdu was no longer given serious assignments. Sigurd Lavard died in 1200 or 1201, when his father was still alive. He left the little son of Guttorm , who was king for several months in 1204 [2] [3] .
