Biography
He studied at a rural madrasah , was engaged in self-education. He knew perfectly the poetry of Navoi , Makhtumkuli , the epics Ashik-Garib , Yusuf and Zuleyha , Gorogly, Shahname , and was recognized as one of the best readers of his time.
Creativity
In pre-revolutionary verses he opposed social injustice, ridiculed the vices of society, advocated for disenfranchised women. His poems were distributed in oral transmission and in manuscripts. The flourishing of A. Musaev’s poetic talent came after the establishment of Soviet power in Karakalpakstan. He became the pioneer of Karakalpak Soviet poetry, published since 1930.
The poet acted as a collective farm activist, singing a new life. In the poem "Lenin" (gas. "Pravda", 1932), he was the first in Karakalpak poetry to create the image of a great leader.
The collection "Complete Works" was published posthumously in 1941.
In his poetry, national culture and oriental flavor are clearly manifested and harmoniously combined. Far known as an outstanding improvisational poet , he distributed his poems to workers under the pseudonym Garip, sometimes Mullah. Many poems of the poet, as well as many folk songs that he retained in his memory, were recorded in the 1930s by the first folklore - ethnographic expeditions from the lips of the poet himself in his native village, where he lived and worked until the end of his days.
A number of verses by A. Musaev have been translated into Uzbek and Russian.
