Mikhail Georgievich Bozenkov (January 1921, Roslavl , Smolensk Province - January 10, 1994) - Soviet football player and football coach, Honored coach of the USSR (1957), hockey player, tennis player. Member of the Great Patriotic War .

Biography

Born in Roslavl in January 1921 (the dates of 18, 20, 21 and 24 January are mentioned in various sources). In his youth he played football, but could not get into the team of masters due to injuries. Even before World War II he entered the Minsk Institute of Physical Education, but because of the start of the war he interrupted his studies. In the second half of 1941, he was evacuated to Kuibyshev , served as a senior military instructor, instructor of the railway school and the Lokomotiv sports society [1] .

Since May 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He began to serve in the 7th Guards Mortar Division, then was transferred to the regimental intelligence as a platoon commander. The rank at the end of the war is foreman. He fought on the Volkhovsky, North-West, Kalininsky, 3rd Byelorussian, 1st Baltic fronts, ended the war near Königsberg . He was awarded the Order of the Red Star , World War 2 nd degree, the medal " For Courage " [2] .

After the war, he continued his studies at the Minsk Institute of Physical Education. He was engaged in various sports, including the repeated champion of the republic in tennis and fencing . For several years, he was the playing head coach of the Minsk “Spartak” [3] [4] , including in the 1950/51 season - in the highest league of hockey . Judged the matches of the lower leagues in football. Wore the nickname "Pirate".

In 1950 he entered the coaching staff of the Minsk football "Dynamo" . From September 1952 to 1955, he worked as the head coach of the same club, renamed Spartak by that time, and in 1954 led the team to the bronze awards of the USSR Championship . In 1956 he headed the national team of the Byelorussian SSR at the Games of the Peoples of the USSR , the team took the seventh place. He was one of the coaches and consultants of the USSR national team at the 1956 Olympics . In 1958-1959 he again worked as the head coach of the Minsk "Spartak". He was awarded the title " Honored Coach of the USSR " (1957).

In 1961-1963 he was the head coach of the national team of Burma [5] . Under his leadership, the team earned the right to participate in the final tournament of the Asian Games in 1962, but refused to participate. In Burma, Bozenenkov became the author of a methodological guide to football and participated in the organization of the football department.

In November 1964, he became the first head of the newly created Department of Football and Hockey of the Belarusian State Institute of Physical Culture and worked in this position until 1977 [6] . Awarded the Order " Badge of Honor " (1964), the medal " For Labor Valor " (1957).

He died on January 10, 1994 at the age of 73.
