Sonu Nigam ( Hindi सोनू निगम , Eng. Sonu Nigam ; born July 30, 1973 , New Delhi , India ) is an Indian voice-over singer, whose voice is mainly in Hindi films ( Bollywood ). He also recorded several songs for films in Kannada , Malayalam , Marathi , Punjabi , Telugu , Tamil and Pakistani Urdu films .

Biography

Sonu was born in the family of Agam and Shobhi Nigam in the city of Faridabad . His father is from Agra , and his mother is from Garhwal . Has a younger sister Tisha, who followed in the footsteps of his brother.

Sonu began singing at the age of four, singing Mohammed Rafi ’s song “Kya Hua Tera Wada” with his father on stage. After that, he supported his father at various events. Sonu's acting career began at the age of 10, when he played the son of the main characters in the film Kaamchor (in shooting galleries was listed as Master Sonu) [2] . Then he played the young versions of the main characters in several films, including Betaab . Having moved to Mumbai with his father, he began his career as a singer at the age of 18. He was a student of the famous singer Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan.

His first official song was “O Aasman Wale” for the film Aaja Meri Jaan (1993). Sonu also recorded the title track for the same film, but in the end it was performed by another singer - S. P. Balasubrananyam.

He sings not only in Hindi, but also in Kannada. The first Kannada-language song "Yello Yaro Hego" Nigam recorded for the film Jeevanadhi , later the song became popular [3] [4] [5] [6] . After that, he recorded over 600 songs and became one of the most popular singers in the music industry in Kannada. He later said that he considers songs in Kannada more sensual than in Hindi [7] [8] .

Personal life

February 15, 2002 Sonu married Madhurim Misra, has a son Nivan [9] [10] .
