It prefers places with a slowed-down course or without it, with sandy-silty or somewhat silted shell soil and underwater vegetation. It reaches puberty by the end of the first year of life with a body length of 2.7-2.9 cm. Reproduction from April to June, sometimes until July-August. Portion spawning occurs in the coastal zone at depths of 0.2-1.5 m, and begins at 10 ° C. It feeds on small benthos invertebrates (worms, crustaceans , mollusks , etc.), and sometimes feed on fish fry.
