Eric Michael Swalwell, Jr. ( born Eric November 16, 1980, ) is an American politician, member of the Democratic Party , member of the US House of Representatives (since 2013).

Biography
Born November 16, 1980 in Sack City (Iowa), but grew up in California, on the east coast of San Francisco Bay . The eldest of the four sons of his parents - a policeman and an employee, was the first in the family to graduate using the scholarship program for football players . In 2003 he graduated from the University of Maryland at College Park , in 2006 - from the University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore . In 2006-2013, he worked in the office of the Alamida County Attorney in California [1] .
In November 2012, he won the election in the 15th constituency of California, his fellow party member Pete Stark, who held this deputy chair for 40 years, and went to the US House of Representatives [2] .
On April 8, 2019, Swellwell announced that he was joining the struggle to nominate him from the Democratic Party in the 2020 presidential election , making it one of the points of his program to seize automatic weapons from the population on pain of imprisonment [3] .
On July 8, 2019, taking part in the first debate of candidates in Miami in late June, Swellwell announced the end of his campaign in order to focus on his re-election to the House of Representatives. During the debate, it attracted the attention of the audience, reminding Joe Biden that he first announced his intention to “pass the torch to the new generation” 32 years ago, and urged the former vice president to do this, finally [4] .
Personal life
In 2016, he married Brittany Watts, and by 2018 they had two children - two-year-old son Nelson and six-month-old daughter Catherine [5] .
