Zavyalov, Yuri Dmitrievich

Born in 1937 in the village of Abramovo, Khvoyninsky district, Novgorod region.

Since October 1955, he worked as a tractor driver of the Bugrovsky logging station of the Pestovsky timber industry enterprise, and since October 1964, as a tractor driver of the Komsomolsky forest station of the Malovishersky timber processing enterprise of the Novgorodles plant. In the course of his labor activity, he mastered the professions of a petrol-powered saw minder and a 1st-class driver. In 1965, he led the small integrated brigade, and later became the foreman of the enlarged integrated forestry brigade in the city of Malaya Vishera, Novgorod Region ^[1] .

The brigade led by him was the first in the region to master the hydraulic wedge, and the first to use the mechanical method of cleaning the cutting areas. In 1967, the brigade was awarded the title of the collective of communist labor. In 1972, the first in the region formed an enlarged team of 8 people, which made it possible to maximize the use of equipment and eliminate downtime.

In total, during the ninth five-year plan (1971-1975), the team procured 247 thousand 52 cubic meters of wood with a plan of 156 thousand 607 cubic meters. On the basis of the brigade, a school of excellence and mentoring was created. For victory in socialist competitions, the brigade has repeatedly become the "Best Logging Brigade of the USSR Ministry of Forestry and Processing Industry."

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 10, 1976, for outstanding industrial achievements achieved in fulfilling the tasks of the ninth five-year plan, Yuri Dmitrievich Zavialov was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Hammer and Sickle Medal.

In the 1990s he went on a well-deserved rest.

He was elected a member of the Malovishersky district committee of the CPSU, a delegate to the XIV and XVI congresses of trade unions, a member of the Central Committee of the trade union of forestry and woodworking workers.

He lived in the city of Malaya Vishera. He died on May 27, 2014.
