Accepted aircraft types
The airfield is capable of receiving B-757 , B-747 , Il-96 , Tu-204 , Tu-154 and more light aircraft, as well as all types of helicopters . Runway classification number ( PCN ) 53 / F / C / W / T [2] .
History
The former airport (created in the late 1920s [3] ) was located in the urban area in the southeast of the city [4] ( ) - the city bus station is currently operating in the terminal building, and Astana Avenue passes along the former runway [5] .
At its present location, the airport has been located since 1988 (construction began in 1986) [6] . The first (technical) flight of the Tu-154 from Almaty was taken at the new airport in 1988.
Until the mid-1990s, the airport was based on a large number of An-2 aircraft (more than 50), which operated regular postal and passenger flights to a number of settlements in the region ( Aralsk , Kazalinsk , Leninsk , Dzhusaly , Dzhalagash , Kuandarya, Chiyili , Yanykurgan ) and aerial work in the region, as well as seven Yak-40 aircraft and three Mi-8 helicopters. Passenger flights were carried out on Yak-40 aircraft to most of the regional centers of Kazakhstan , as well as a number of Russian cities ( Yekaterinburg , Orenburg , Rostov-on-Don , Novosibirsk , etc.).
In the mid-1990s, four Yak-40 aircraft were transferred to other airports in Kazakhstan; the remaining three aircraft since that time are unsuitable for flights, because they need repairs to extend the operational resource, and due to lack of funds for these purposes are stored at the Kyzylorda airport [7] .
In 2001, a new airport complex was built at the airport with a capacity of 150 passengers per hour. In the same year, the airport operator - the open joint-stock company “Kyzylorda Airport” - was named Korkyt Ata [8] . From the late 1990s and until 2011, the Kyzylorda airfield received class 3 aircraft ( An-24 , Yak-40 ) and all lighter ones, as well as helicopters of all types. It was possible occasional reception of aircraft of class 2 ( Tu-154 , Tu-134 , Yak-42 ) on prior request.
In April 2011, reconstruction of the airdrome was completed - replacement of radio navigation, light-signal and meteorological equipment, overhaul of taxiways and runways , which allowed expanding the range of aircraft types accepted by the airdrome [9] .
Since November 3, 2014, the Kyzylorda airport has been allowed to support international flights of aircraft [10] .
From April 2015 to February 2016, in connection with the reconstruction of the runway of the Baikonur aerodrome , ALROSA Airlines operated the flight Moscow ( Domodedovo ) - Kyzylorda on Tuesdays (from October 30, 2015 - on Tuesdays and Fridays).
From May to October 2015, Transaero Airlines operated a regular flight Moscow ( Vnukovo ) - Kyzylorda three times a week. Flights are canceled due to the revocation of the operator’s certificate from the company.
Starting July 15, 2018, Aeroflot Airlines has operated flight SU1960 / 1961 Moscow (Sheremetyevo) - Kyzylorda (and vice versa) 4 times a week. This flight will be operated only until October 25, 2019 inclusive, and then direct air communication with Moscow will only be possible through the nearest airports of Aktobe and Shymkent. [eleven]
