Jigme Namgyel Wangchuk ( dzong-ke འཇིགས་ མེད་ རྣམ་ རྒྱལ་ དབང་ ཕྱུག་ , born February 5, 2016) [1] [2] - the first child and heir to King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk from Bhutan and his wife Jetsun Pema . His name was announced on April 16, 2016. Before the announcement, he was known only as Gyalsey , which means “prince”. Before his birth, his paternal uncle, Prince Jigel Ugyen, was the heir to the current King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk. In honor of the birth of Jigme Namgyel Wangchuk, thousands of volunteers planted 108,000 trees in Bhutan. He is expected to become the sixth Druk Gyalpo ( King of Bhutan ). [3]
