History
In 1902, the Geneva-based businessmen, brothers Ernest and Henri Maus, opened their first retail store in the heart of the Swiss plateau , in the town of Lucerne . The director of the department store was appointed their main partner, Leon Normann. The initial letters of the names are formed in the logo of the joint stock company Ma ... Nor AG . The retail chain soon went beyond the Swiss borders. In September 2000, the last rebranding of the company was carried out [1] .
In May 2008, the company acquired the international brand Gant . Since November 2012, the company also owns a controlling stake in Lacoste enterprises [2] .
By the summer of 2019, the company has 58 large shopping centers in various European cities with a total turnover of 3 billion Swiss francs [3] . The company is managed by a directorate located in Basel (near the border with Germany and France) [4] .
Other holdings of the company include restaurants Manora (co-managed with the French group Carrefour ), sports goods stores Athleticum (co-managed with the French company Decathlon ), building materials stores Jumbo .
