Biography
Very little is known about Uto II. It is mentioned that prior to receiving his episcopal dignity, he was the abbot of the Ettenheimmunster monastery [2] . However, most likely, this evidence is hardly reliable, since the first mentions of this abbey relate to the XII century [3] [4] [5] .
The lists of chapters in the Starsburg Archdiocese of Uto II are mentioned as the successor to Bernold and the predecessor of Ratold . The exact date of possession of the bishop's department in Strasbourg is not established. He was to become a bishop no earlier than 832 (the date of the last authentic mention of Bernold in his contemporary documents) and die no later than the summer of 840 (the date of the first mention of Ratold). Most likely, Bishop Bernold died shortly before the year 840 (perhaps in the same year), and Uto II ruled the Strasbourg Diocese for a very short time. Perhaps that is why any information about his activity of Uto II as a bishop has not been preserved [2] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] .
