Cactus is a supermarket chain in Luxembourg. The group also runs specialty stores selling items such as flowers or CDs. As of July 2017, Cactus is the fourth largest employer in Luxembourg. The company logo is a green silhouette of a three-toed cactus.

History
In 1900, Joseph Lish opened a grocery store. In 1905, the business was expanded with its business partner Michel Donven. In 1928, the partnership was dissolved, and Lish created a new business, Leesch Frères (Lishi Brothers) with his three sons - Arthur, Jacques and Alois. In 1930, the leash opened a coffee shop on Strasbourg Street in Luxembourg. In 1955, the business passed to the third generation, the sons of Alfred Lish - Paul and Alfred, took it upon themselves. In 1962, they created the first self-service store, known as Vivo (Vereinigte Internationale Verkaufs Organization).
The first supermarket was opened on October 19, 1967 in the town of Bereldeng . The name Cactus was taken by Paul Lish from the title of a 1966 song by Jacques Dutron . Soon the second store opened in Esch-sur-Alzette .
In 1974, the company opened its first shopping center , Belle Etoile in Bereldeng , on the main road (later supplemented by a parallel highway) connecting Luxembourg and Belgium.
New stores opened in the late 1970s in Remich , Mersch and Petange , and then in other places in Luxembourg.
The company's first meat store opened under the name Schnékert in 1979. Ten years later, in 1989, the Inn restaurant was opened in the flagship Belle Etoile shopping center. In the 1990s, the company opened its DIY stores in Hovald , Diekirch and Esch-sur-Alzette under the name "Cactus Hobby".
