Family
The son of rugby player Paddy “Butch” Costello, who played in the position of a castle (lock) and engaged in athletics (shot put) [2] . Sister - Susan Costello , played for the national field hockey team and was involved in athletics (sprint), director of the Samaritans charity [3] .
Sports career
Costello is Ireland's five-time track and field champion [4] . In 1992, he performed at the Olympics in Barcelona, where he took 22nd place with a score of 17.15 m [5] [4] . After the Olympics in Barcelona, he moved to rugby and played on a professional level until 2005 [5] . He has games for the Connaught and Leinster clubs from Ireland (with the latter he made his debut in the Celtic League ) and for the London Irish from England . In the Irish national team, he played 39 games, taking 4 attempts and earning 20 points, and played at the 2003 World Cup [2] .
Beyond Rugby
He has a pilot license from Ryanair [6] and also works on television and radio as an expert at RTÉ Sport , covering events in athletics. Commented on the 2012 London Olympics [7] [8] [9] . Member of the Rugby 7 Club Committee, Shamrock Warriors " [10] .
