For Ural, the final was the second in the history of the Cup of Russia (the first was also against Lokomotiv in 2017 ). Lokomotiv reached the final for the 9th time (having 7 wins and 1 loss in its assets). For the second time in a row, Ural head coach Dmitry Parfyonov reached the Russian Cup final ( Tosno head coach in 2018), and for Yuri Semin he became 6th in his career (all finals were with Lokomotiv: 5 victories and 1 defeat).

Background
On April 11, 2019, the RFU announced that the final would be held at the Samara Arena [2] , despite initial statements about the final at the Moscow Luzhniki Stadium as the place of “permanent residence” for the final matches of the Cup [3] [4] .
Samara Arena became the fifteenth stadium in Russia, which hosted the Cup final (and the eleventh non-Moscow stadium, respectively) [5] .
Arbitration
On May 17, 2019, Sergey Lapochkin ( St. Petersburg ) was appointed the chief arbiter of the match. For the first time in the history of the Russian Cup finals, the Video Assistance System for Arbitrators has been used. Sergey Karasev ( Moscow ) was appointed the main video referee for the match.
