Biography
He graduated from the course at the Higher County School in Livonia . In 1849 he entered the Imperial Academy of Arts in the Department of Architecture and, having received there a second-degree silver medal for architectural projects, was admitted in 1853 to attend lectures at the Construction School . In 1855 he passed the final exam and was issued with the title of Architectural Assistant and the right to the rank of college secretary .
In June 1855 he was appointed to serve in the Kiev construction and road commission. In 1857, he resigned from there for further architectural education.
At the end of 1858, under the leadership of General Stanislav Kerbedz, he participated in the preparation of the project for the construction of the Kursk-Kiev railway and then subsequently participated in the construction of the railways: Moscow-Ryazan, Ryazan-Kozlovskaya , Moscow-Kursk , Kursk-Kiev, Oryol-Gryaz and Kharkov-Nikolaev.
In 1868, in Serpukhov, according to his drawings, a railway station was created in an eclectic style unusual for the end of the 19th century. The station building has survived to our days almost unchanged.
Then he was engaged in private practice in Nikolaev for several years. In 1878, he was again accepted for service in the Stavropol province , where during the year he took the place of provincial architect, and in 1879-1891 - the provincial engineer. In 1893, he again took up the position of provincial architect in Stavropol .
He died in Liebau in 1911.
