Agnes Sure ( French: Agnès Souret ; January 1, 1902 , Biarritz - August 14, 1928 , Argentina ) is a French actress and dancer , the first ever winner of the first national beauty contest Miss France 1920 .

Biography
Agnes Sure was born on January 1, 1902 in Biarritz.
At the age of 17, she was recognized as the most beautiful woman in France ( La plus Belle Femme de France ), won the first ever title of the competition, which later became Miss France , having beaten over 2,000 rivals in the competition and gained 115,000 votes. In the French newspaper " Le Figaro " she was called "Dazzling Beauty." In The New York Times , Agnes Sure was called "the most beautiful Frenchwoman."
Victory in the national competition turned Agnes into one of the most popular women of that time. Her photographs appeared in large numbers in magazines and newspapers. The details of her life were commonplace in the columns of the yellow press in the early 1920s.
She became a dancer in the famous Parisian music hall Foley Berger , performed at the Opera Monte Carlo . She starred in three films ("La Maison des pendus", "Le Lys du Mont Saint-Michel" and "La tournée Farigoule").
Soon her fame went beyond France. In 1922, she appeared in the Pins and Needles review at the Gateway Theater in London's West End . While in London, Agnes was invited to film screenings in Hollywood . Her beauty was seen in the USA. In the same year, her book, The Famous Book of Beauty Secrets, was published.
Died of peritonitis during a tour in Argentina in September 1928 at the age of 26. Buried at home in Espelet .
