A veteran of the First Chechen war , who served in Chechnya for military service. The first part says that Danila Bagrov was born on August 5, 1975; thus, in the first film he is 22 years old. Danila’s fellow soldiers - Kostya, who was awarded the Order of Courage , and Ilya - consider him the “coolest” and most skilled fighter among them. Danila himself is rather modest and does not like to talk about his military exploits, usually he always says that he served as a clerk during the war, although judging by the events of both films, he is familiar not only with mine-blasting, but also has hand-to-hand skills combat, shooting and manufacturing firearms in artisanal conditions, which speaks of true professionalism. Despite the outward simplicity bordering on eccentricity, Danila is implacable in relation to any injustice, and deals with all his enemies with rare calmness and even cruelty. He loves the music of Russian rock groups, primarily Nautilus Pompilius and “ DDT ”, and he treats pop music scornfully and calls it “fake”, because “they don’t listen to this in a war”.

Family
Before the army, Danila lived with his mother. His father, Bagrov Sergey Platonovich, born in 1942, a recidivist thief, died in prison and his brother, Viktor, was much older than him. Of all the relatives of Danila, only Victor plays a significant role, performed by Viktor Sukhorukov . Danila loves his brother as a father. Unlike Danila, Victor is an extrovert , sociable, often laughs, openly expresses emotions, but cannot boast of integrity of character, too frivolous, and for the sake of money he’s even ready for crimes. In “Brother 2” there is also a retired mother (her name is not called) and mentions the grandfather who died during the Great Patriotic War - his name is also not called.
First Movie Events
Demobilized after the war, Danila arrives in his hometown, where he immediately gets into a fight with a security guard on the set of a video clip for the song “Wings” of the group “ Nautilus Pompilius ” and gets into the police, but he is released. Life in his hometown is boring for Danila, and he goes to St. Petersburg , where his older brother Victor is well settled.
It quickly becomes clear that Victor is a hired killer nicknamed Tatarin. He takes the younger brother into circulation, sending him to do all the dirty work. First, Danila kills a Caucasian (a former Chechen fighter), an owner of one of the city markets who is objectionable to bandits, and in the ensuing pursuit seriously injures one of the bandits. Then, again at the request of his elder brother, he sits in ambush with two accomplices, but after completing the assignment he kills both for the sake of saving an accidental witness from reprisal.
After this, Victor, under pressure, surrenders Danila to the bandits, but Danila deals with them and tells his brother that he does not hold evil at him for betrayal. Having lost friends and faith in justice, Danila leaves St. Petersburg and moves to Moscow, wanting to go to university and study as a doctor.
Second Movie Events
In Moscow, Danila meets with his fellow soldiers, Kostya and Ilya. Kostya's twin brother Dima plays in the NHL team, but all the money because of the contract goes to an American businessman who does not shun anything. Kostya, trying to help his brother, asks his boss Belkin to speak with an American. But Belkin has his own interests and a multi-million dollar contract related to the illegal gambling business, and he orders “just to sort it out” with Kostya so that he no longer gets into this business, but Belkin’s people understand his boss’s words as an order to kill Konstantin. Danila decides to restore justice and avenge his friend. Meanwhile, Danila’s brother Viktor comes to Moscow, who joins him.
Interrogation of Belkin brings Danila to an American businessman. He decides to fly with his brother to America and track him down. In order to conspire, the brothers fly to the United States on different flights: Victor flies to Chicago , and Danila flies to New York . Having found a new friend, a trucker who helped him get to Chicago, Danila can’t find his brother, he runs out of money. Having obtained weapons and rescued Russian prostitute Dasha from trouble, Danila hunts down the American and forces him to return all the money to the hockey player.
Having met his brother, he finds out that he decided to stay in America. Both are chased by the police and the Ukrainian mafia . After shooting Ukrainians in a restaurant, Victor falls into the hands of the police. Danila, along with Dasha, manages to escape the pursuit of the American police and safely leaves the United States by plane. After the events of the second film, the further fate of Danila Bagrova is unknown.

The character created by Sergei Bodrov was very fond of the Russian audience. The creators of the film showed the image of a simple Russian guy, in spite of everything, preserving the human face - honest, intelligent, in all situations not losing his temper. Danila Bagrov became a symbol of resilience and a role model for many young people in Russia, Belarus and the post-Soviet space. In the image of Danila Bagrova, the brutal Chechen war is reflected. And this cruelty - cold-blooded and unwavering - is saturated with all the actions of the hero. The war taught Danila to survive in a tough criminal world, however, despite the harshness, Danila declares that "Strength is in truth."
In September 2014, a graffiti team from Vitebsk “HoodGraff” painted a portrait of Danila Bagrov on the wall of a transformer box, located near the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, next to the Obukhovskaya Oborona Prospekt stop in St. Petersburg [2] [3] . In 2015, in the Perm Club "House of Culture", the artist Vyacheslav Nesterov, working under the pseudonym Slava Triptych, made a huge portrait of Danila Bagrov [4] .
The protagonist of the film " 14+ " is a fan of Danila Bagrova.
In 2017, according to the results of online voting, Danila Bagrov was recognized as the national superhero of Russia [5] .
In August 2018, Danila Bagrov was spoofed in the Coin video “90” [6] .
In September 2018, the popular Enjoykin video blogger created the music video "Brother", which a day after publication gained more than one and a half million views and fell into second place on the top YouTube site [7] [8] .

- In an interview with the editorial board of the magazine “Art of Cinema,” Sergey Bodrov said that Danila Bagrov appears in his film “ Sisters ” (a guy who came by jeep to the song “ No one writes to the Colonel ” in order to shoot in a shooting gallery) and this is “Merry greetings to Balabanov” [9] .
