Biography
In the lists of the heads of the Brescia diocese, Saint Silvin is mentioned as the successor to Theophilos and the predecessor of Gaudiosis I. He was a bishop in the city of Brescia in the first half of the 5th century. Although in the writings of some authors more accurate dates are given (for example, P.-B. Gams is 440–444 years), they are not confirmed by the data of medieval historical sources [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] .
There is almost no information about Silvin's acts. In medieval martyrology, he was extolled as a hierarch, full of all sorts of virtues. Mentioned that Silvin was a bishop for about two years. It is not known where he was originally buried. In April 1508, Silvin’s relics were transferred from the church in Monte Orsino, where they were recently found , to the Brescia [1] [6] .
As well as all the chapters of the Brescia diocese of the 3rd-7th centuries from Anatoly to Deusdedit , as early as the Middle Ages, Silvin was canonized [7] [8] . First, he commemorated with other holy bishops of Brescia ( Paul I , Paul II , Cyprian and Deusdedit) on the fourth Sunday after Easter [9] , and now - September 28 [6] .
