Geography
The river originates in Ningu County [2] in the northern part of the province and flows south along the central valley of Shanxi province up to the reservoir in Loufan County. After the reservoir, it flows to the southeast, and after Gujiao , to the east. Having taken in a number of tributaries from the north, the river abruptly turns south and flows through the provincial capital city of Taiyuan . Further, the river flows south for a long time, in the Quiwo and Home areas, gradually turning to the west, and as a result, in the Hejin area, it flows into the Yellow River [3] .
History
Fenhe River Valley - these are the places where Chinese civilization began. It is believed that this is the Ji River mentioned by Sima Qian , on the banks of which the legendary Yellow Emperor lived, and the legendary Emperor Yao located his capital in the middle reaches of this river. When the kingdom of Jin was formed during the Chunqiu period , one of its capitals was located in the lower reaches of Fenhe on the territory of modern Home .
