Bradley Alan Lewis ( born Bradley Alan Lewis ; born , ) is an American rower who played for the US national rowing team in the late 1970s and the first half of the 1980s x years. Champion of the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles , winner and winner of many regattas of national importance. Also known as a writer and documentary filmmaker.

Biography

Brad Alan Lewis was born on November 9, 1954 in Los Angeles , California .

He was engaged in rowing while studying at the University of California , Irvine , was a member of the local UC Irvine Anteaters team, and took part in various student competitions on several occasions.

In 1977, he entered the main squad of the American national rowing team and performed in doubles at the World Championships in Amsterdam - he managed to qualify here only in the consolation final B and was located in the final protocol of the competitions on the ninth line.

He was selected for the Olympic team, assembled to participate in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow , but the United States, along with several other Western countries, ultimately boycotted these competitions for political reasons. Subsequently, for missing this Olympics, Lewis was awarded the Gold Medal of the US Congress [1] .

In 1983, he performed at the World Championships in Duisburg , where he took sixth place in the standings of doubles.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1984 Los Angeles Home Olympics - together with his teammate Paul Enquist, he beat all his rivals in the doubles program and thereby won the Olympic gold medal [2] .

After completing his sports career, he wrote several books on sports topics, including the autobiographical book Assault on Lake Casitas about his 13-year path to victory at the Olympics. He later worked in the field of independent cinema, in 2000 he shot the documentary A Fine Balance about the American rowing eight, who won three world championships in a row, but finished fifth at the Sydney Olympics. He participated in the creation of several projects for the HBO channel [3] .
