The maximum body length is about 7 cm. Life expectancy is probably about 4 years. The body is elongated, relatively low, compressed, like the head, from the sides, covered with medium-sized cycloid scales. The mouth is small. The length of the head is 25-28% of the length of the body. The front nostrils are elongated into long antennae-like tubes that hang over the upper lip. The general background color from yellowish-brownish or yellowish-gray to brownish. On the sides there are irregular shapes, quite pronounced dark and light spots-stripes. During breeding, the males darken, become dark, almost black [2] .
Endemic of Crimea [1] [2] . Described and found only in the Chernaya River [1] for about 25 km from the mouth [3] .
Biology is practically unstudied. Residential bottom fish found in shallow coastal areas of the river. It prefers places with a slowed-down course or without it, sandy-silty or somewhat silted soil and underwater vegetation. It reaches puberty by the end of the first year of life with a body length of more than 2.5 cm. Reproduction from April to July. Caviar is laid under stones, in shells of mollusks and on other bottom objects and is actively guarded by the male. It feeds on small benthos invertebrates (worms, crustaceans , mollusks , etc.) [2]
