Biography
Linda Cornet was born on January 26, 1962 in the city of Leiden in the province of South Holland . Engaged in rowing in Harlem at the local club Het Spaarne.
She made her rowing debut in the international arena in the 1980 season when she joined the Dutch national team and performed at the junior world championship in Hasevinkel, where she finished fifth in the standings of the oar steering fours.
In 1983, she started in two-wheel-drive deuces at the adult world championship in Duisburg , managed to qualify here only for the consolation final B and was located in the final protocol of the competitions on the eighth line.
She achieved the greatest success in her sports career in 1984 when, as part of the Netherlands rowing team, she was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles . The crew, which also included the rowers, Gret Hellemans , Nicolette Hellemans , Marike van Drogenbrook , Harrit van Ettekoven , Catalin Nelissen , Anne-Marie Quist , Villon Vandrager and helmsman Marty Laureisen , in the finals of the eights came to the finish line of the third crew and behind Romania - thereby won the bronze Olympic medal. She also started in Los Angeles in two-wheelless deuces, but here she could not get into the number of winners - she was fourth at the finish.
After the Los Angeles Olympics, Cornet no longer showed any significant results in rowing at the international level.
