Biography
Born November 16, 1932 in Saratov . In 1954 he graduated with honors from the Geological Faculty of the N. G. Chernyshevsky Saratov State University with a degree in Geology .
In 1954-1960 Geological engineer and party leader in the Altai expedition of the Giprotsvetmet Institute, in 1960-1961 he was a senior geomorphologist at the Siberian Research Institute of Geology, Geophysics and Mineral Resources (Novosibirsk).
From 1961 to 1979 he worked at the Far Eastern Geological Institute of the Far Eastern Scientific Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences , in 1970 he defended his thesis, from 1972 he was the scientific secretary of the Far Eastern Geological Institute of the Far Eastern Scientific Center of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
In 1979, together with the Department of Geomorphology, he was transferred to the Pacific Institute of Geography, Far Eastern Scientific Center, Academy of Sciences of the USSR , was appointed head of the laboratory of dynamic geomorphology, and worked in this position until 2004. He taught at the Far Eastern State University .
In 1989 he defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic: "Morphostructure of the eastern outskirts of Eurasia."
Since 2004, he worked as a chief researcher in the laboratory of geomorphology of the Pacific Institute of Geography, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
In 2004, he was awarded the honorary title of Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation .
His main areas of research were: anthropogenic ocean level fluctuations, geomorphological structure and morphostructural evolution of East Asia and other continental margins of the world, ring morphostructures of East Asia and the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
He died in Vladivostok on July 20, 2017.
