He took part in the battles against German troops in April 1941 , being captured. After his release in October of that year, he volunteered to join the Serbian Volunteer Corps . He served in the volunteer department in Kragujevac , at the same time he became mayor of the city. Lost his position as a result of accusations of blackmail, robbery and rape of a teacher. By decision of the corps command, he was arrested and sentenced to death. He was released by the Germans, who also arrested a corps officer who accused Yanich. In June 1942, S. Janic became the leader of the 1st Belgrade Special Combat Command, informally known as the “Serbian Gestapo”. He promised the Germans to form two Serbian divisions of the Waffen SS , which in reality never happened. Due to the commission of numerous crimes, the puppet ruler of Serbia, General Milan Nedic and the corps command, asked the Germans to liquidate the Serbian Gestapo. As a result, S. Yanich and several dozen of his subordinates were sent to Germany in April 1943 , where they were distributed to various military units. In 1945, he remained in Oranienburg near Berlin, where he waited for the arrival of American troops. After the war, S. Janic emigrated to Canada.
He was married, had a son.
