Irwin Winkler ( born Irwin Winkler ) - American film producer and director. Since 1967, he has worked on more than 50 films. He gained fame for his work on films: “ Double Trouble ” (1967), “ They Shoot Horses, Don't They? ”(1969), the series“ Rocky ”(1976–2018),“ Mad Bull ”(1980),“ Guys what is needed ”(1983)” and “ Glorious Boys ” (1990).

Early life
Winkler was born into a Jewish family in New York . Grew up on Coney Island . He graduated from high school early and entered New York University. At the beginning of the Korean War, he voluntarily joined the army and served two years in Louisiana . After finishing his service, Winkler returned to New York University and in 1955 received a degree in American literature.
Personal life
Winkler married his wife Margot in 1959, while still working at WMA. They moved to Los Angeles in 1966. The couple have three sons: Charles, David and Adam. Charles and David are both film producers and directors. Together with his father, they manage the production company Winkler Films. Charles is married to actress Sandre Nelson. Winkler's younger son, Adam, is a professor of constitutional law.
