Christine Goss ( French Christine Gossé ; born , ) is a French rower who played for the French national rowing team from 1981-1996. Bronze medalist of the Atlanta Summer Olympics , two-time world champion, winner and medalist of many regattas of national importance.

Biography

Kristin Goss was born on October 26, 1964 in Offenburg , Germany .

She made her rowing debut at the international level in 1981, when she joined the French national team and performed at the junior world championship in Bulgaria, where she took fourth place in the standings of the pair of fours with a steering. A year later, at similar competitions in Italy, she won a silver medal in the same discipline.

In 1983, at the adult world championships in Duisburg, she showed the ninth result in the oar steering fours.

Thanks to a series of successful performances, she won the right to defend the country's honor at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles - she finished fifth in the pair of steering fours program.

In 1985, at the world championship in Hazewinkel, she was in the eighth doubles.

At the 1986 World Championships in Nottingham, in doubles, she finished fifth.

In 1988, she performed at the Olympic Games in Seoul , where she closed the top ten in the fours.

At the 1990 World Championships in Tasmania, she took seventh place in the standings of swinging fours without a steering.

In 1991, at the World Championships in Vienna, she became fourth in a non-steering two.

She took part in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona , where she also took fourth place in steering wheelless deuces.

After the Barcelona Olympics, Goss remained in the French rowing team for another Olympic cycle and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 1993, in wheelless deuces, she won the world championship in Rachitsa , and in 1994 she repeated this achievement at similar competitions in Indianapolis .

In 1995 she visited the world championship in Tampere , from where she brought the bronze dignity award, won in fours without a steering.

Being among the leaders of the French national team, successfully passed the selection for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta . This time, along with her partner, Helen Corten finished third behind the crews from Australia and the United States - thereby winning the bronze Olympic medal. Soon after the end of these competitions, she decided to end her sports career.

For outstanding sports achievements she was awarded the Order of Merit in the degree of gentleman.
