The early years
Moore was born in the Bronx , New York , in the family of a Puerto Rican mother and Carib father [1] . At the age of 14, she left home due to transphobia from her parents, after which she lived in several foster families [2] . She dropped out of high school in the tenth grade due to bullying by classmates, but in the end she was still able to get a certificate of completion [3] [4] .
Career
Moore began working as a model at the age of 15 years [3] . As an extrasensory actress in the series Annealing , she met dancer Jose Gutierrez Extravaganza, who advised her to develop an acting career and organized an audition for the independent film Saturday Church [3] . Following the premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April 2017, the film was released on January 12, 2018, receiving mostly positive reviews from critics [1] [5] .
In 2017, Moore took part in New York Fashion Week [6] as a model, and also appeared at Katy Perry's performance with the single “ Swish Swish ” as part of Saturday Night Live [7] .
Since 2018, Moore has been playing one of the main roles in the television series " Pose " [8] . In 2019, she entered the list of 100 most influential people of the year according to the magazine “ Time ” [9] .
Personal life
Moore is a transgender . She has a non-binary gender identity , and when she uses her, she uses the gender-neutral pronouns “they / them” [10] .
