Etymology

The village got its name from the nearby villages Meiniman Pervoy and Meiminan Pervoe , despite the fact that historically it has nothing to do with them [1] .

History

The village was founded in the XIX century by Russian immigrants. During the years of Soviet rule, it was called Kalinovka .

In 1926, according to the administrative-territorial division of the Azerbaijan SSR, the village belonged to the diving Sabir-Abad of the Salyan district.

After the reform of the administrative division and the abolition of counties in 1929, the Kalinovsky Village Council was formed in the Karasuinsky district of the Azerbaijan SSR . Later, the district was abolished, the village became part of the Ali-Bayramlinsky district, but in 1939 the village was transferred to the Kazi-Magomedsky district.

On December 4, 1959, the Kazi-Magomed district was liquidated, and the village was transferred to the Ali-Bayramlinsky district.

According to the administrative division of 1961, the Kalinovka village was part of the Kalinovsky village council of the Ali-Bayramlinsky district of the Azerbaijan SSR [2] . On January 4, 1963, the Ali-Bayramlinsky District was abolished, and the villages of the Kalinovsky Village Council were transferred to the Sabirabad District [3] .

On April 24, 1990, the village was transferred to the newly formed Adzhikabul region.

On October 5, 1999, the village of Kalinovka was given the name Meiniman .

In 1999, administrative reform was carried out in Azerbaijan and the Meiniman municipality of Adzhikabul region was established within the Meiniman administrative-territorial district [4] .

Geography

Meiniman is located on the banks of the Kura River .

The village is 22 km from Adzhikabul district center and 135 km from Baku . The nearest train station is Mugan.

The village is located at an altitude of 19 meters below sea level.

The population was mainly engaged in cotton growing, grain farming, melon farming, and animal husbandry.

Until the early 1990s, the village was predominantly populated by Russians. According to the 2009 census, the village is abandoned, but there is evidence that about 1000 people live in the village [9] .

Climate

The village has a semi-desert climate .

Infrastructure

In Soviet times, the village housed a secondary school, a library, a medical center [5] .

The village has a post office, high school, medical center, library [10] .
