Saint Auxilian came from the family of Restitut and Kalmana, or Leomania, the sister of St. Patrick . A good and brilliant education developed his talents: he dedicated them to the glory of God and the happiness of people. He was ordained a priest by Saint Seneur, Bishop of Dolsky on the same day that Saint Patrick began his episcopal ministry. Together they converted the inhabitants of Ireland to the Christian faith.
When they turned to the Lord the sons of Dunlaigue, who ruled part of Lahin, Saint Patrick appointed Saint Auxilian as bishop and blessed to serve in those parts. This prelate completed the work begun, working in the name of Jesus Christ. In 450, the saints Auxilian and Isernin were apostolic legates at the Cathedral, which St. Patrick spent in his church in Armagda.
It is likely that the learned and pious prelate performed the same function at other bishop's meetings as the primate. Spelman retained the deeds of some of these cathedrals, which strengthened the establishment of religion in Ireland . This great grace is partly related to the name of the saint. After many miracles, he ended his holy life in 460 , in his episcopal city of Céall-Usalli .
