Biography
Nikolay Tokarev was sent to the Vocational School at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1798) eleven years old. He studied at the Academy of Arts until 1812. He received medals: a small silver (1809), a large silver medal (1811) for the bas-relief: “Vladimir and Rogneda” , a small gold medal (1812) under the program “To present in action the famous Nizhny Novgorod citizen Kozma Minin, who prompted the hearts of all his fellow citizens to donate everything property for the salvation of the Fatherland . " Issued a certificate of the 1st degree of completion of the course of the Academy with a sword (1812). He was retired at the Academy for five years and was appointed a drawing teacher at academic classes. [one]
Received a large gold medal (1815) for the program "Leading of sv. Apostle Andrew to be crucified . "
He was awarded the title of academician (1819) for the program: "Ullis, bending the arrow-bow and imposing on the aunts" . The supervisor of the forms from the ancient statues at the Academy of Fine Arts (1825-1859) [3] . He was appointed to teach drawing in plaster classes (from 1834). The duty of the caretaker of drawing classes (from 1851). By age he was dismissed from service at the Academy (1859). [four]
Major works : "Vladimir and Rogneda" (1811); “Keeping of sv. ap. Peter to Crucifixion (1815); "Ulysses, bending arrow-bow and laying on the bowstring" (1819); moldings in the middle room of the Small Hermitage (at the entrance to the Apollo Hall) (1844) [4] , eight figures of the Victory Geniuses with spears, wreaths, palm branches and trumpets on the attic of the Narva Triumphal Gate [5] .
