Paolo Rio-Nardi ( Italian: Paolo Rio Nardi ; 1899 , Bologna - 1984 , Florence ) - Italian pianist and music teacher.
The son of a railway employee. He studied with Giuseppe Buonamichi , after his death in 1914 he moved with Gregoria Gobbi (later a piano duet partner and wife) to the class of Edgardo del Valle de Paz , after a conflict with which both young musicians graduated from the Florentine Conservatory in Ernesto class Consolo , Rio Nardi was considered his favorite student. [1] In the early 1920s met Ferruccio Busoni and took lessons from him in Italy, but refused the offer to study with him in Berlin.
In 1916 he made his debut on the concert stage as a soloist, in 1918 as a member of the piano duet. He was known primarily as an interpreter of the music of Frederic Chopin . He has performed with such conductors as Pierre Monteux and Eduard van Beinum . The first performer of a sonata for cello and piano Franco Alfano (January 26, 1927 in Paris, with cellist Yves Chardon).
Since 1929, he taught in Florence, then in Bologna and Venice , in the 1950-1960s. in Mozarteum , from 1968 until the end of his life again in the Florentine Conservatory. Among his students, in particular, an American musicologist and teacher Elizabeth Carr (author of a monograph on Shur Cherkassky ). Prepared the publication of selected clavier toccaths by Alessandro Scarlatti (1948).
