Early and personal life

Sarah is the only child. After graduating in 2011 , she completed a nursing training course in Ennis, County Clare. She then continued to study music technology at the Limerick Institute of Technology for several months. She always said that my career would help people or music. Sarah took a break from her education and continued to work as a retailer in Pennis (Primark). In September 2014, Sarah entered the University of Limerick to study voice and dance, but was forced to postpone until September 2015. She plays the guitar, piano and tin whistle.

Musical career

In November 2014, after going through blind auditions at The Voice of Ireland without any gigs, Sarah created a band to gain the experience of performing. The four-member band consisted of guitarist Dwayne Mann, drummer John Moroni, bassist Declan Larkin and Sarah on vocals.

Mcternan participated in the Voice of Ireland show in 2015. At her blind audition, she sang "Who You Are." All four judges turned. She then decided to join the Rachel Stevens team. Sarah’s video listening remains the most watched video in the series with 90,100 views. In Battles, she competed with Tara Gannon Carr. They performed "Changing" by Sigma with Paloma Faith. Stevens decided to knock out Sarah. Sarah sang Ella Henderson's “Ghost” and opposed Paul Taylor and Kian O`Meyla. Stevens decided to send Sarah to the next stage. In the first concert, Sarah sang "What I Did For Love" by David Guetta with the participation of Emelie Sand. Sarah came third, losing to Emma Humber in second place and Patrick James in first.

In 2018, Mcternan introduced the song “Eye of the Storm” as part of an online vote for San Marino's Eurovision Song Contest. At that time, Makternan said: “Obviously, you want to represent your country, but this is a great opportunity, it would be amazing to be part of Eurovision.

On March 8, 2019, RTE announced Sarah as the representative of Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel. She will perform the song “22” in the second semi-final. [2]
