Viktor Vasilyevich Melikhov (born April 8, 1954 , the village of Kamenny, Danilovsky District, Volgograd Region , the RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian and Soviet scientist, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences , professor, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (2016) [1] , honored worker of the rural economy of the Russian Federation [2] .

Biography
In 1979 he graduated from the agricultural technical school of leading personnel of collective farms and state farms. Immediately after graduation, he took up the position of an agronomist-seed producer on the collective farm “Russia”. A year later, he was promoted to senior agronomist in the seed production department of the Department of Agriculture. In 1985, he was educated as an agronomist at the Volgograd Agricultural Institute.
Since 1989, he worked in the agricultural department and the department of socio-economic policy of the Volgograd Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union . In 1994, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Agriculture and Food of the Volgograd Region. Since 1995 - First Deputy. In 1997, V.V. Melikhov was appointed Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Food Administration of the Volgograd Region. From 2002 to the present, he has been the director of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Irrigated Agriculture Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution and is a professor at the Department of Land Reclamation and Integrated Research of Water Resources and Ecology of Volgograd State Agrarian University [3] . Since 2016 - Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the specialty “Land Reclamation and Water Management” [4] .
Scientific activity
The main areas of research of the scientist were comprehensive land reclamation of irrigated lands, the creation of hybrids of grain and leguminous crops for irrigation conditions, the conservation and restoration of the natural resource potential of irrigated lands and meadow estuaries. Under his leadership, methods and technologies for integrated land reclamation of irrigated lands were developed.
V.V. Melikhov is a full member of the International Academy of Ecology and Nature Management, a member of the editorial boards of scientific journals: "Bulletin of the Lower Volga Agricultural University", "Irrigated Agriculture" and "Zroshuvan earthmoving" (Ukraine).
Published about 260 scientific works, 8 of which are monographs. On his account 64 patents for inventions and selection achievements. He defended 7 doctoral and 12 master's theses [3] [5] .
