Biography
Known as Bill Margold, he was director of the Free Speech Coalition and co-founder of the X-Rated Critics Organization (XRCO) and Fans of X-Rated Entertainment (FOXE). He was the founder of PAW Foundation , a charity fund for performers of the porn industry [2] . He was a member of the AVN Hall of Fame . He was married to the 1980s porn actress Drea from June 1982 to 1984, then the couple divorced [1] . A frequent guest of news and talk shows, Margold has appeared in dozens of documentaries throughout her career, including After Porn Ends (Life After a Career in Porn, 2012), a film about the life of porn industry figures after leaving the business.
Scandal
In January 1981, Margold provoked serious controversy, telling journalist Rona Barrett in an interview shown during the first NBC show Tomorrow Coast-to-Coast with Tom Snyder (Tomorrow’s Coast to Coast with Tom Snyder) that he is considering the option of acting in a sex scene with her daughter . When asked whether he would allow his daughter to enter the porn business, Margold answered: “No, until she turns eighteen. And then I could work with her myself. ” A constant provocateur, Margold previously made such statements at least once during an adult documentary recording. What Would Your Mother Say? ("What would your mother say?"). After disagreement with Barrett, Margold placed an ad in Variety magazine, apologizing for the statement. [3] An outspoken industry reform activist, Margold supported a government initiative to increase the legal age of performers from 18 to 21 after the incident with Tracy Lords [4] .
Death
He died on January 17, 2017 at the age of 73 from a heart attack while he was broadcasting a live broadcast [1] .
