Kuitiva

Cuitiva ( Spanish: Cuítiva ) is a small town and municipality in central Colombia , within the Boyaca department. Included in the province of Sugamuksi .

Content

History

The settlement from which the city later grew was founded in 1550. The municipality of Kuitiva was separated into a separate administrative unit in 1801 [1] .

The city is located in the east of the central part of the department, in the highlands of East Cordillera , west of Lake Tota , approximately 40 kilometers east of the city of Tunja , the administrative center of the department. The absolute height is 2725 meters above sea ​​level [2] .

The municipality of Kuitiva borders in the north with the territories of the municipalities of Isa and Sogamoso , in the east and southeast with the municipality of Akitania , in the south with the municipality of Tota , in the west with the municipality of Sand . The area of ​​the municipality is 43 km² [1] .

Population

According to the 2005 census, men made up 49.4% of the population of Kuitiva, women - 50.6%, respectively. Racially, whites and mestizos accounted for 99.9% of the city's population; Negroes , mulattoes and Raysals - 0.1% [4] . The literacy rate of the entire population was 84.6%.

Economics

The basis of Kuitiva’s economy is agriculture [1] .
68.3% of the total number of urban and municipal enterprises are trade enterprises, 24.4% are service enterprises, 7.3% are industrial enterprises [4] .
