Biography

In 1912 he graduated from the Vilnius Teachers' Institute. In 1912-1914, he worked as a teacher in the Mogilev Higher Primary School, at the same time taught for a year (with a break in military service), worked as a teacher in Mogilev, then was in the same place in leadership positions in the field of public education. In 1918 he was chairman of the Mogilev teacher organization. In 1919-1922 - Member of the Board of the Union of Education Workers. In 1925-1930 he served as an inspector, researcher at the People's Commissariat of Education in Moscow. At the same time he taught at the N.K. Academy of Communist Education Krupskaya, Institute for Continuing Education of Teachers. He was the deputy editor-in-chief of the journal Russian Language in the Soviet School. He graduated from the graduate school of the USSR Academy of Sciences in the department of literary criticism (1932). In the years 1934-1935. - Lecturer and Deputy Dean at LIFLI . In 1932-1942 and 1945-1949 he worked at the Institute of Russian Literature of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR : researcher, head of the museum, senior researcher. In 1942 he was evacuated to Tashkent . In 1943-1945 - professor at the Department of Russian Literature of the Central Asian University .
