Background
Although the songwriters include singer Lanny Duncan and his brother Robert Duncan, Lanny previously recorded the original demo of the song in 1961 as part of the Starlighters band, featuring Tony Valentino on guitar and Jody Rich on bass. The demo was created in Glendale, California with the participation of sound engineer Eddie Brackett. [1] [2]

The song reached 19th position on the Billboard Hot 100 , [3] . 27th - on the Cashbox chart and 32nd on the UK Singles Chart [4] .
The cover version was created by The Ventures in 1963 under the name “Let's Go” [5] .
The characteristic rhythmic pattern of gained popularity in cheerleading and as a around the world [6] [7] , which in Russia is often associated with the Spartak football club [8] . The rhythm was later used in Brian Eno 's 1977 production of rock art by the American band Devo [7] . In 1982, the rhythm was used in Tony Basil 's cheerleader song “ ” as the basis of the chorus “Oh Mickey, you're so fine ...” [6] .
