Education
Monterey's research is ongoing. There is a hypothesis that it was formed by a powerful ancient river, since none of the modern rivers is powerful enough for this. However, ancient deposits that need to be studied in order to know this for sure are buried under the stratum of modern ones and are not yet accessible to scientists.
