Danish-Latvian relations are bilateral diplomatic relations between Denmark and Latvia .

History
On February 7, 1921, Denmark recognized the independence of Latvia, and diplomatic relations were restored on August 27, 1991, after the collapse of the USSR [1] . On November 3, 1924, an agreement on trade and navigation was signed between the countries [2] , and on August 28, 1930 an extradition agreement was signed [3] .
In 1992, Queen of Denmark Margrethe II visited Latvia and other Baltic countries ( Estonia and Lithuania ) [4] . On 27 August 2001, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Mogens Lykketoft, visited Riga to support Latvia’s accession to the European Union [5] . On January 19, 2011, Latvian Foreign Minister irts Valdis Kristovskis arrived in Denmark for talks with his colleague Lene Espersen . During the talks, they touched upon topics related to Afghanistan , the Lisbon Treaty and the situation in Belarus [6] . Then, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and Latvia made a joint statement in which they condemned the detention of opposition politicians in Belarus [7] .
Trading
In 2007, Denmark’s exports to Latvia amounted to 1 billion Danish crowns , and Latvian exports to Denmark amounted to 1.6 billion Danish crowns. Denmark was the third largest foreign investor in the economy of Latvia , after Estonia and Sweden [8] .
