Nykøbing Mors ( Dates. Nykøbing Mors ) is the largest city on the island of Mors (Morsø) in Lim Fjord . The settlement received city status in 1299 . The population of the city is 9031 people ( 2014 ). It is located in the municipality of Morsø in the North Jutland region on the island of the same name, also known as Vensussel-Ti . Nykøbing Mors was in the past the location of the monastery of Düholm, which is now part of the Historical Museum Morsland and is located outside the settlement, on the edge of the lands of the Nykøbing Mors cricket club.

Nykobing Mors - the birthplace of the Danish-Norwegian writer Axel Sandemuse - became the prototype of the fictional city of Jante in the author’s novel The Fugitive Crosses His Trail ( Norwegian En flyktning krysser sitt spor ), published in 1933 . Søren Larsen and sons own a shipyard in Nykøbing Morse, on which the brigantine Sören Larsen was built in 1949 [1] .
