Pēterupes street ( Latvian: Pēterupes iela ) - a street in the Northern district of Riga , in Mežaparks . It runs eastward from Kokneses Avenue to the junction with Annas Sakses and Hamburgas Streets . The total length of the street is 317 meters [1] .

History
It was first mentioned in 1911 under the name Tilsit Street ( Latvian Tilzītes iela , German Tilsiterstraße ) - in honor of the Prussian city of Tilsit . During the First World War, 1915 to 1917, it was temporarily renamed into Baikal Street ( Latvian. Baikāla iela ), then the name Tilsitskaya was returned [2] .
In 1923, the street got its current name - in honor of the small Latvian river , which flows into the Gulf of Riga near the city of Saulkrasti . Subsequently, the name of the street was no longer changed [3] .
Building and Attractions
Peterupes street is built up with private residential buildings, mainly of the beginning of the XX century. House No. 12 (architect K. Agte, 1929) is recognized as a local architectural monument [4] .
At the intersection with Kokneses Avenue and Stockholm Street, a monument to children deported in 1941 was erected (sculptor Dzintra Jansone, 1993).
