Description
Medium-sized lamellae-like beetles (1-2 cm) with a bright color (bright green and rainbow marks against a dark background). It differs from related genera (for example, Giesbertiolus ) in the following features: on pronotum 3, longitudinal colored stripes; lateral edges angular; scutellum with a rainbow spot; pygidium and the last abdominal sternite without a noticeable transverse keel; front tibia with teeth on outer border; apex of hind tibia dentate, with marked spines. Adults feed on nectar on flowers [1] [3] .
Classification
The genus was first described in 1849 by the English entomologist John Frederic Sidney Parry ; 1810–1885, based on the type species Dialithus magnificus Parry, 1849 [4] , and its valid status was confirmed during an audit conducted in 2014 Mexican entomologist Andrés Ramírez-Ponce ( Instituto de Biología. Departamento de Zoología. Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México ; Mexico City , Mexico ). It is part of the Trichiinae subfamily, which is sometimes also considered as the Trichiini tribe in the bronze subfamily (Cetoniinae) [1] [5] .

Earlier, the species included the species Dialithus festivus , but the American entomologist Henry Fuller Howden (1925-2014) in 1988 transferred it to the genus Giesbertiolus Howden, 1988 (where 4 species: Giesbertiolus curoei Ramírez-Ponce, 2014 , Giesbertiolus linnaei Krikken, 2008 , Giesbertiolus ornatus Howden, 1988 and Giesbertiolus festivus ) [1] [6] .
