Power plant and speed

The scheme of the power plant is the same as in the Rimac Concept One : four electric motors, one for each wheel, which are combined in pairs on the axes in compact units. Electric motors of the front axle have one single-stage gearbox, on the rear axle - one two-stage gearboxes. The total power of the electric motor is 1408 kW or 1914 hp ^{[4] [10]} , which gives a maximum speed of 415 km / h ^[11] . Acceleration to 100 km / h takes 1.85 seconds, which is 0.05 more than the Tesla Roadster ^{[4] [12] [13]} - potentially the Rimac Concept Two is the fastest electric vehicle at present ^{[14] [15] [16]} .

Motor parameters and control system

The range of the Rimac is significantly inferior to the Tesla (650 km vs. 990 km) according to the NEDC cycle ^{[10] [17]} , which is an impressive achievement for the car. The electric motor works thanks to its own design batteries with a capacity of 120 kWh, charging from zero to 80% takes half an hour ^{[4] [18]} . Electricity reserves allow the car to theoretically drive two circles in a row on the racetrack at the Nurburgring ^[19] . According to the manufacturer, the car has sufficient endurance and controllability, technologically corresponds to the level 4 of unmanned driving ^[20] with an advanced driver assistance system ^[21] . Unlocking is done through a face recognition system ^[5] .

Aerodynamics and appearance

The power plant is assembled in a single carbon body integrated into a carbon monocoque - while the car is complicated in terms of aerodynamics, because it contains seven independent cooling circuits for the power plant, batteries and electronics units. Optimized bottom aerodynamics, built-in large air intakes in the hood and wide on the sides, wheels designed to maximize brake cooling. On the rear wings in front of the wheel arches of the end of the air intakes are covered with carbon-fiber elements in the form of a tie. An adaptive rear wing changes the angle of attack depending on driving conditions, and when braking from high speed it rises vertically and acts as an air brake ^[4] . The doors are made in the style of "butterfly wings": open forward and upward, capturing a fragment of the roof. The salon complies with the standards of the Gran Turismo class cars. There is also a small trunk ^[4] .

Jonathan Lopez of Top Speed ​​magazine argues that Concept Two has changed the situation not only in the electric vehicle market, but also in the automotive industry in principle thanks to high technology ^[22] . Vlad Savov from The Verge criticized the appearance that did not impress him and turned out to be less bright than in the Lamborghini Huracan , and also stated that the data declared by the developers are bloated ^[23] .
