Nikolai Vladimirovich Nerush (born July 24, 1960 in Staraya Kupavna ) is a rugby player and rugby coach, honored coach of Russia [1] , and a mentor at the VVA-Moscow Region rugby club from 1991 to 2019. The first coach to lead the Russian national team to the Rugby World Cup .

Biography
In the USSR championship he played for the team “VVA im. Yu. A. Gagarin ”(Monino). He graduated in 1987 from the Moscow State Academy of Physical Culture (MGAFK) [2] .
Coaching career began in 1980 [3] . Since 1991, the permanent coach of VVA-Moscow Region, with whom he won the Russian Championship and the Cup of Russia 8 times. In 1993-2005, he was a coach of the Russian national rugby 7 team , which in 2001 played for the first time at the World Cup [3] (in particular, he led it in 2000 at a tournament in Hong Kong [4] ). In 1992, he also led the USSR national team in one of the matches against Belgium [5] .
Coaching Nerush in the team was offered even before the arrival of the Frenchman Claude Sorel [3] . However, he headed it only in 2008, and for the first time he qualified for the World Cup - the team debuted in 2011 at the largest international rugby tournament [6] . The team lost all 4 matches, bringing in at the same time 8 attempts (a record for a debutant), and Nerush resigned [7] .
Since February 3, 2016 he is the head of the coaching council of the Russian Rugby Federation [8] [9] .
