Biography

During the Great Patriotic War , he was a lieutenant technician in aviation technology [1] .

The dissertation of the candidate of technical sciences on the subject “Studies of the thermodynamic properties of the coolant of modern power plants” [2] was defended in 1960 under the supervision of Y. Z. Kazavchinsky at the Department of Thermophysics of the Odessa Institute of Marine Transport Engineers , where he taught [3] . The dissertation of the doctor of technical sciences on the subject “Investigation of the thermophysical properties of real gases at high temperatures” was defended in 1966 [4] .

He was an assistant professor, then professor, and in 1973-1990 he was the head of the Department of Engineering Thermophysics of the Odessa Technological Institute of Food Industry named after MV Lomonosov and the Odessa Technological Institute of Refrigeration Industry, changing the direction of the scientific work of the department to study the thermophysical properties of substances in various states of aggregation [5] . In the 1990s, he worked at the Odessa State Academy of Refrigeration [6] .

The main scientific works in the field of studies of the thermodynamic properties of substances at high temperatures, the potential of intermolecular interaction with variable parameters [7] .

Among the students of P. M. Kesselman are Doctor of Technical Sciences V.P. Zhelezny, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences B.V. Rogankov and E.S. Yakub .

Daughter - Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (1990) [8] Florina Pavlovna Onufrieva, professor of Odessa State University named after I. I. Mechnikov [9] and since 1995 a leading researcher at the French National Center for Scientific Research [10] .
