The season began on August 7, 2018 with the Champions League qualifying round and ended on May 18, 2019 with the last round of Primera .
Benfica took part in five official tournaments: the championship, the Portuguese Cup , the Portuguese League Cup , the Champions League and the Europa League.
In the championship, Benfica won first place, winning a record 37th league title.
In the Portuguese Cup and the Portuguese League Cup, Benfica reached the semifinals, losing to Sporting and Porto , respectively.
In the group stage of the Champions League, “Benfica” played for the ninth time, which is a record among all Portuguese clubs and the fourth indicator among all European clubs [2] . Having lost twice at Estadio da Lush in the Champions League, the team set an “anti-record” without having won five matches in a row at the home stadium in this tournament [3] . “Benfica” took third place in the group, which gave the right to play in the playoffs of the Europa League . The team reached the quarter-finals of the tournament, dropping out of the tournament according to the away goal rule after matches with Frankfurt Eintracht [4] .
