Description
Medium-sized retina-wing insects (about 1 cm) with wide oval wings. It differs from closely related species in the structure of the male genitalia: the ectoproject is elongated, sub-square, with the ventral lobe strongly inwardly curved. The first fusion (fork) of the front cubitus of the front wing (CuA) is distant from the mediocubital vein (m + cuig). In the front wing between the veins M and the first proximal branch of the vein Rs there is a transverse vein; developed return vein. Antennae cheek-shaped, pronotum with lateral processes. Adults and larvae predators feed mainly on aphids (afidofagi). The species was first described in 1836 under the original name Boriomyia subnebulosa (Stephens, 1836 ) [2] , and its status was confirmed by a cyan audit conducted in 2019 by Mexican entomologists Yesenia Marquez-López ( Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa, Ltpez -López- Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa, López). México ) and Atilano Contreras-Ramos ( Ciudad Universitaria, Ciudad de México ; Mexico City , Mexico ) [1] [3] .
