Ombaev, Abdirahman Moldanazarovich

Born on January 1, 1949 in the village of Kara-Konyr, Otrar District, South Kazakhstan Region. He graduated from the Alma-Ata Veterinary Institute (1971) with a degree in animal husbandry.

• 1971-1973 senior laboratory assistant of the department of selection and genetics of black Karakul sheep, Kazakh Research Institute of Karakul breeding;
• 1973-1976 graduate student of the All-Russian Research Institute of Animal Husbandry (Moscow);
• 1976-1988 Junior Researcher, Senior Researcher, Head. Laboratory for the industrial production of Astrakhan, lamb and milk, Kazakh Research Institute of Astrakhan;
• 1988-1992 in the same place - deputy. Director of Science
• 1992-1994 Akim of the Suzak District Administration of the South Kazakhstan Region;
• 1994-2002 Director of the Kazakh Research Institute of Astrakhan Breeding.
• 2002-2007 Director of the South-West Research and Production Center of Agriculture (Shymkent).
• 2007-2011 Director General of the South-West Research Institute of Livestock and Crop Production.
• 2011-2017 Director General of the Kazakh Research Institute of Livestock and Feed Production.

Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1991, the theme of his doctoral dissertation: "Scientific foundations and practical techniques of intensive technology for the production of astrakhan in Kazakhstan"), professor (1994). Foreign member of RAAS (2007) and RAS (2014).

Author (co-author) of more than 80 publications, including monographs. Publications:

• Growth and development of the fruits of Karakul sheep, depending on the timing of fruiting, types and varieties of skins;
• Technology for the production of astrakhan and lamb;
• White Karakulcha from merino queens.

Sheep breeder. Co-author of the Otrar domestic type of Karakul sheep of white color (2007), Tastinsky internal breed of Karakul sheep of black color Karakul type (2011), Kumkent factory type of Karakul sheep of gray color, blue color (2011), Ordabasy chicken-meat-greasy sheep breed (2013) , Badamsky internal breed type of the Ordabasy breed (2017). He took part in the creation and distribution of the new Atyrau breed of fat tail sheep of smusho-meat-sebaceous productivity (1998).

Honorary Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2009).

Laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science, technology and education (2005). He was awarded the Order "Urmet" (2008); a silver medal of the VDNH of the USSR (1988), medals “Kazakhstan Republics of the Republic of Uzbekistan 10 years” (2001), “Kazakhstan the Constitution of 10 years of the year” (2005), “Tyna 50 years of the year” (2005), “100 years since the birth of Academician A.I. Barayev "(2008).
